SCCI assures full support to police for implementation of Safe City Project

PESHAWAR: In order to improve the security in the provincial metropolis, Sarhad Chamber of Commerce and Industry assured the provincial government and police department to extend financial and technical support in implementation of the Safe City Project.

The assurance was given by senior vice president of the chamber Sanaullah Khan while chairing a meeting during a visit of Chief Capital Police Office Peshawar Qasim Ali Khan here at the chamber on Wednesday.

Sanaullah Khan suggested forming a joint liaison committee between chamber and police department to promptly resolve traders’ community issues.

He asserted that a peaceful atmosphere is crucial for promotion of business and trade activities.

He assured the traders community will fully cooperate with police during the Muharram.

The meeting was attended by vice president of the chamber Ejaz Khan Afridi, former FPCCI president Ghazanfar Bilour, SSP Operations Kashif Zulfiqar, SP City Zafar Ahmad, police high officials, former presidents of the SCCI Riaz Arshad, Faiz Muhammad Faizi, former vice president Javed Akhtar, Haji Abdul Jalil Jan, member of executive committee Kashif Amin, Hamza Ibrahim Butt, Fahad Amin, Muhammad Ismail Khan, Anjuman e Tajran Peshawar president Haji Shuakat Khan, Tajir Insaf President Shahid Khan, Haji Naseer, Khalid Ayub, and Waqar Ahmad, Nadeem Rauf, Ashfaq Ahmad, Aftab Iqbal, Ihsanullah, Mujeebur Rehman, Abdul Razaq Chitrali, Saddar Gul, Faiz Rasool, Ishtiaq Muhammad, acting secretary general of the SCCI Muqtasid Ahsan, Secretary Sohail Anjum, presidents, general secretaries and office bearers of Shoba, Qissa Khawani, Kohati, Namak Mandi, Ghanta Ghar, and city bazaars and markets associations in a large number.

Sanaullah on occasion apprised the meeting about concerns of traders’ community regarding increasing incidents of street crime, snatching and extortion and assured full financial and technical support for execution of Safe City Project in Peshawar.

Senior office bearers presented a number of proposals for improving security and traffic system and resolution of the business community issues on which the CCPO fully agreed.

Senior police officials assured police would take initiatives as per recommendation of the Sarhad chamber to resolve traders’ community issues. 

Meeting addressed by Ghazanfar Bilour, Shaukat Khan, Habibullah, Javed Akhtar and office bearers of various Peshawar’ trade unions, bazaar and market associations and gave full assurance to police for cooperation during Muharram and presented number of proposals for resolution of issues.

CCPO while responding to various queries from participants of the meeting asked the chamber to present the business community in written and assured proactive steps would be taken to resolve them.

He said the business community always extended cooperation in maintenance of law and order during Muharram and confidently said traders would continue their support for peaceful observance of Muharram this year.

Ghazanfar Bilour also spoke on the occasion and thanked the CCPO and other high officials for assurance in resolving the business community on priority basis.
